Iwan Fals, whose birth name was Virgiawan Listanto (born in Jakarta, 3 September 1961; age 53 years) is a ballad, pop, rock and country singer who has become a legend in Indonesia.
Career
Through his songs, he 'photographs' the social atmosphere of Indonesian life from the late 70s until now, world life in general, and life itself. Biography
Iwan Fals' childhood, or what we usually know as Iwan, was spent in Bandung, then in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, for 8 months. His musical talent was further honed at the age of 13, when Iwan spent a lot of time busking in Bandung. He has played the guitar since he was young or not old, he even busked to practice his guitar skills and create songs. When he was in junior high school, Iwan became a guitarist in the school choir.
Next, an invitation came to try his luck in Jakarta from a producer. He then sold his motorbike to pay for the master. Iwan recorded his first album with his colleagues, Toto Gunarto, Helmi, and Bambang Bule who were members of Amburadul, but the album failed on the market and Iwan returned to his profession as a busker. This album is now sought after by collectors and fanatical fans of Iwan Fals.
After winning at the country music festival, Iwan took part in the humor song festival. Arwah Setiawan (deceased), Iwan's humorous songs were recorded with Pepeng, Krisna, and Nana Krip and produced by ABC Records, but they also failed and were only consumed by certain circles. Until finally, Iwan's journey was to collaborate with Musica Studio. Before going to Musica, Iwan had recorded around 4-5 albums. At Musica, Iwan's songs were treated more seriously. Iwan continues to carry out his profession as a busker. He busked by visiting houses one by one, sometimes at Pasar Kaget or Blok M. When the Manasuka Siaran Niaga program was broadcast on TVRI, Oemar Bakri's song was broadcast on TVRI. When Iwan's second child, Cikal, was born in 1985, his busking activities immediately stopped.
